Hosted Numbers allows you to load numbers with Commio for messaging services, without having to port your voice. You can leave the number with your current carrier, but load the number to Commio's NNID for messaging.
In Commio.io, under Messaging - Hosted Numbers, follow the steps below to submit a new hosted number:
1. You can upload a csv file of your numbers OR enter your number(s) directly on the screen.
The following screen will give you a price breakdown and confirm the numbers you have loaded, click Next.
2. You can upload your own completed LOA or fill out the information needed directly in the portal. This is the authorization information needed for us to send to your current carrier. Signature is required.
Click Save.
When you click Save the number(s) will be submitted to be released to our NNID for messaging. Some losing carriers will require we send them the LOA you have provided, while others will release the numbers to us immediately.
If the carrier releases the numbers immediately, the status of the number will show as provisioned with a green checkmark back on the main Hosted Numbers page:
The green checkmark means the number is on Commio's NNID for messaging and you can start using the number with our services immediately. (Please note before you can send outbound messages, the number has to be assigned to an approved campaign for 10DLC or be submitted and approved for TF verification.)
If we do not get an immediate response from the losing carrier, but they have not yet blocked the request (require the LOA), you may see a number in the pending status below:
The pending status should move to either successful/provisioned or failed within 24 hours. If you see a number sitting in pending for over 24 hours, please contact support.
If a number fails to provision, this means the losing carrier is requesting Commio send them the signed LOA you have submitted. When the request fails, you will see the following status in the portal:
At that time, our system will generate a new ticket that will notify both you and our support team of the failed request. Our support team will pick up the ticket and will process the manual request by sending the LOA to the losing provider. We will keep you updated on the open ticket as we hear back.
- If for any reason you see a failed hosted number in your account and you have not received a support ticket ID number, please reach out to us directly to have this corrected.
Some carriers reply to the requests within 24 hours, while others may take up to 72 hours.
Once the number is released to our NNID, the support team will notify you via the open ticket and the number status in the portal will change from failed to successfully provisioned.
Toll Free Hosted Numbers: We use Twilio as our messaging partner for toll free. When a toll free number is added to hosted numbers in your Commio account, it begins the process of loading within Twilio. This can take up to three business days to complete. The status may be in pending while it is carrier processing on the Twilio side and will update to successfully provisioned once complete.
Hosted Numbers can also be added and edited via our API:
